Karla Quattrocchi

K a r l a Q u a t t r o c c h i received her BFA from the School of The Museum of Fine Arts Tufts University with a concentration in painting and drawing.

She exhibits with the Artists’ Group of Charlestown, StoveFactory Gallery, Charlestown and 13Forest Gallery, Arlington. Her work has been featured in and around the Boston area and her pieces are held in private collections both statewide and abroad.

Quattrocchi’s paintings incorporate multiple mediums including oil, acrylic, pencil, plastic, tar, crayon and found objects. Each composition starts with a structured amount of space and adheres to a flat picture plane. From this space she explores the small pencil mark, the rough scribble, lost emotions and the colorful textures held within a child’s crayon.

Her house paintings embrace the whimsy of children’s drawings. Her portraits explore both the primitive and the contained passion of expressionism. In her abstract narratives, she plays with meaning.

Her work evokes moments held in memory – the brief reflections of desire, purpose, want and intention.Style: Expressionism, neo-expressionism
